Excessive Rainfall in the Southern Plains; Extreme Heat Coming to the Southwest U.S.

Heavy to severe thunderstorms may bring areas of excessive rainfall and flooding over parts of the southern Plains through Friday. A Slight Risk of excessive rainfall has been issued. Above average temperatures are expected across most of the region today. As a cold front slowly tracks south into the region this afternoon, it brings a chance of showers and thunderstorms across north central Nebraska. Overnight, a more widespread chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected.
A Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe thunderstorms across all of western and north central Nebraska on Thursday, with wind and hail as the primary threats. A Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms across western Nebraska on Friday, with wind and hail again the primary threats.
