The Week Ahead

Thunderstorms will move southeast out of the High Plains into the area Friday evening and overnight. A few of these storms may be severe with large hail and damaging winds.

There is a low probability for rain and a few elevated thunderstorms Friday morning near sunrise until noontime across central and west-central Oklahoma. Severe storms are not expected with this 1st round of potential morning thunderstorms on Friday.

Although some storms are possible during the day, main severe risk will be during the evening hours as storms develop to our west and northwest and move into the area. Damaging wind gusts will be the main hazard along with some hail risk.

Showers and thunderstorms chances Friday through the weekend with severe potentials on both Friday and Saturday nights. Temperatures near average becoming hotter and above average early next week.

Local Weather History For June 13th...

Severe thunderstorms, some producing tornadoes, raked across central
and northern sections of Oklahoma on this day back in 1998. Most of
the tornadic activity was confined to Canadian and Oklahoma counties.
The strongest tornadoes, which produced F2 damage, occurred during
the late afternoon and early evening hours . Most notable, was the F2
tornado that tore through the northern portions of the Oklahoma City
metro area, including the Frontier City amusement park. This tornado
produced property damage in excess of $1 million. The tornadoes this
day in 1998 resulted in 21 injuries, but thankfully, no deaths.
